Guinness World Record Adjudication Day

The 20th of July 2013 has slashed a great mile­stone for Ber­jaya Times Square & Ice Cream Events Man­age­ment Malaysia in the his­tory line. That was the glo­ri­ous day where the “World’s Largest Cap­sule Vend­ing Machine” built by BTS in con­junc­tion with their 10th Anniver­sary cel­e­bra­tion was adju­di­cated and cer­ti­fied by the Guin­ness World Records!

To build the machine, the team had spent 4 months to plan and the cus­tomized pieces were assem­bled at loca­tion (Ground Floor Main Entrance) in a 2 months’ time frame. Bring­ing the total time spent for build­ing this machine to a frame of 6 months.

The main indi­vid­u­als involved in this adju­di­ca­tion process was Ms. Koh Huey Min, Exec­u­tive Direc­tor of Ber­jaya Times Square KL, the appointed offi­cial sur­veyor Mr. Wong Chee Sing, and the invited guest of honor that came all the way from Lon­don, Mr. Jack Brock­bank as the offi­cial adjudicator.

The first process of the adju­di­ca­tion was scru­ti­niz­ing the height of the machine. They then moved on to check the vol­ume capac­ity of the cap­sule vend­ing machine and accord­ing to the guide­lines, the cap­sule vend­ing machine must be filled with half of the cap­sules. There was a rod pierc­ing through the cap­sule con­tainer to indi­cate that the cap­sule level was indeed what they were look­ing for. It was con­firmed that the con­tainer was filled with more than half with cap­sules tow­er­ing at 8 feet.

We then came to the final part which was to mea­sure the diam­e­ter and width (15 feet and 5 inches) of the cap­sule con­tainer & inspect the mate­ri­als that were used such as Per­spex, steel and LED light­ings to build this machine. The cap­sule con­tainer is made up of many pan­els which are molded into a sphere. This machine is not only the world’s largest, it is also the world’s first and this record is unprece­dented. After moments of pin drop silence and the air filled with thick excite­ment, the machine was pro­nounced clock­ing in at 32 feet and 3 inches in height!
